Child And Adolescent Welfare Clinics

The ICH clinic provides promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative medical services to its clients. The primary preventive services comprise health education and specific prevention services including immunization services for children, adolescents and adults as well as immunization advice for travellers to and from Nigeria to other countries, nutritional classes for mothers. Activities targeting early diagnosis include genotype testing, screening for conditions such as G6PD, hearing and visual impairments, growth disorders etc.  In addition the clinic provides curative services including treatment of minor illnesses among children and adolescents while rehabilitative services currently target children with mild undernutrition.

The vision of the ICH clinic is in line with the vision of the University of Ibadan and the University College Hospital.  The clinic seeks to be in the forefront of the provision of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services to children and adolescents. While the well-child clinic is fully operational, the adolescent health clinic is yet to be fully operational and currently provides vaccinations to parents requesting for this. It is hoped that additional services will be provided in phases until the clinic becomes fully functional and a model for research, training and service provision.
