Advances in molecular biology has provided society with several tools with state of the art applications in disease diagnosis, tracking of diseases heritability and solving crime, besides several other expanding uses in everyday life. In addition, it is an important tool for examining the complex interactions involved in susceptibility to common infections and for the host to defend itself, identifying underlying molecular events in inherited diseases and the ultimate translation into diagnostic, therapeutics, prognosis and prevention. However this much needed science and applications lags behind the enormity of the problems societies such as ours face, with infectious diseases affecting particularly children and the gradual increase in non-communicable diseases in recent years.
